Skateboard lessons in Markham
Toronto Skateboard teaches people of all ages to skateboard, from young kids on their first board to adults who always wanted to try. Lessons take place in the Markham area and are taught in English, Cantonese or Mandarin, so kids and parents can both follow along.
Skateboarding builds balance, confidence and patience. Our goal is a healthy, positive session: you learn to fall safely, get back up, and land something new every time.
What you will learn
- First lessons: stance, pushing, stopping safely, turning and how to fall without getting hurt.
- Building up: carving, kick turns, riding small ramps and rolling in and out of transitions.
- Next steps: dropping in, manuals and the ollie, at the pace that suits each rider.
Who the lessons are for
- Kids from about 4 years old who want a safe start.
- Teens who want to learn tricks the right way.
- Adults and parents who want to learn alongside their kids.
What to bring
A helmet, flat shoes and comfortable clothes. Pads are strongly recommended for beginners. If you need gear, see our helmets, pads and complete skateboards, or read the kids skateboard size guide to pick the right board.

Lesson questions
What age can kids start skateboard lessons?
Most kids are ready once they can balance on a board and follow simple instructions, usually around 4 to 6. There is no upper age limit — we teach teens and adults too.
Are lessons available in Cantonese or Mandarin?
Yes. Lessons are taught in English, Cantonese (廣東話) or Mandarin (普通話). Tell us which language you prefer when you book.
Do I need my own skateboard?
Bring your own board if you have one. If you need a board, we can help you choose a complete skateboard in the right size before the first lesson.
What should I bring?
A helmet, flat-soled shoes and comfortable clothes. Knee, elbow and wrist pads are strongly recommended for younger kids and first-time skaters.
How do I book and how much does it cost?
