Skateboard deck size guide
Deck width is the measurement across the board under your feet, in inches. It matters more than the picture on the bottom. These are the sizes we sell most often from our Unionville shop, shipped anywhere in Canada.
7.5 to 7.75 inches
A narrower deck is lighter and quicker to flip. It suits smaller riders, younger skaters, and anyone who wants a classic street feel. Many mini completes use a short board as well as a narrow one, which is easier to turn.
8.0 inches
This is the usual starting width for teens and adults. There is enough room to land, and the board still flips without feeling like a boat. If you are unsure, start here.
8.25 to 8.5 inches
Wider decks feel more stable for transition, bigger feet, and landing tricks. A lot of current street boards sit at 8.25 or 8.38. Choose 8.5 when you want extra platform more than fast flips.
Deck or complete
Buy a deck when you already have trucks and wheels. Buy a complete skateboard when you need everything in one box. Trucks should be close to the deck width: an 8.0 deck usually takes an 8.0 truck, and an 8.25 deck takes an 8.25 truck. Shop trucks separately if you are rebuilding a board, and check the truck size chart to match brands and sizes. Buying for a child? Use the kids skateboard size guide.

Size questions
What size skateboard deck should I buy in Canada?
Most street skaters ride 8.0 to 8.25 inches wide. Smaller riders and younger kids often prefer 7.5 to 7.75. Transition and bigger feet usually feel better on 8.25 to 8.5.
Is a complete skateboard better for a first board?
Yes. A complete already includes the deck, trucks, wheels, bearings and hardware, so it is ready to ride. Decks alone are for replacing a worn board or building your own setup.
Do you ship deck sizes across Canada?
Yes. Toronto Skateboard ships decks and completes to every province and territory. Shipping is free on orders of $50 or more before tax. Orders under $50 ship for $9.95.
